Doing diagnostics using fault codes only is not very reliable, you need to check Live Data as well. FORScan is the best diy system for checking Live Data as well as Ford specific fault codes. If you do replace the EGR then you will need something like FORScan to reset the Learned Values otherwise the new EGR will not function properly. You can disable the EGR by pulling off its vacuum tube but if the EGR valve is not closing properly then it will still be not closed with the vacuum removed. The only way to test for closing is to insert a metal blank in the exhaust flange (on the side of the EGR) Peter. all pipes fail eventually dependant on luck. The pipe from the egr vale connects onto item 3 from one side and then another hose connects on the other side of item 3 and goes to the intercooler.
